Charlie welcomed home, WGFA is there ….
The soldiers of Charlie Company C are back home. And the welcome home that greeted them was next to unbelievable.
People lined I-57 from I-80 south, they waved American flags from overpasses, crowded both sides of Illinois Route 50 from Manteno south of Bradley-Bourbonnais, and then down Kankakee’s Indiana Avenue to the former National Guard Armory – now the Community Resource Center.
The reported 135 soldiers, after a 9-month deployment in Afghanistan, were brought to attention for that final order from the Adjutant General…..
Then came the hugs and tears from loved ones…… {heartwarming} :09
Many of the soldiers declined comment, saying they just wanted to take it all in and enjoy the nearly year-long absence of family and loved ones.
(At the Community Resource Center in K3, CG for 94.1 WGFA).
