Watseka Firefest to Offer M.I.L.K Digital Id’s for Parents of Children

On July 4th, The Shoaf Agency in Watseka will partner with the fire Department and provide our community with information and tool for family and home safety. We are organizing an M.I.L.K. Digital ID EVENT as part of a national campaign to increase awareness about missing children. M.I.L.K. stands for Managing Information on Lost Kids and the M.I.L.K. Digital ID and has been referred to as the first step in the Amber Alert. The event will also educate parents about the steps they can take to help protect and educate their children.

The purpose of the Digital ID event is to provide parents with a free identification software program that includes a standardized, high-quality digital image of their child with a place to record current vital statistics. They have this information available if their child became lost or abducted. Also, plenty of other information will be available for home, bike and bad weather safety.

No one likes to think it can happen to them, but over 2,000 children are reported each day. Authorities say the single most important tool is helping to find a missing child is a good quality photograph. In fact, one in seven missing children featured in a National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) photo distribution program is recovered because of that photo.

Of course nearly all parents have photos of their children, but most do not have one suitable enough for release to law enforcement and press should their child go missing. We, Farmers Insurance, Shoaf Agency, will be taking photos during the Fire Feast that meet their specific standards. The M.I.L.K. and Home Organizer software is available to purchase on line for $49.95 but to ensure that all parents can obtain this important software and digital image, the Shoaf Agency will be offering it for free!
