  • Flood waters have receeded and the Iroquois County area is slowly returning to normal following a heavy downpour Friday. Up to 5-6 inches of rain was recorded in the Fairbury, Cissna Park areas. Benton County, Indiana also reported up to five inches. Winds clocked at 50-60 mph also left large tree limbs on the ground. Hail and downed power lines were also reported in several counties.
  • A structure fire in Kentland, Indiana alerted several area fire departments this morning. Mutual aid was called from Sheldon and Watseka to assist Kentland at 314 E. Lincoln. No other updates were available.
  • Sharnell Woods of Kankakee is facing weapons charges after shots were fired today in the area of 800 North Evergreen Street in Kankakee. Woods is charged with unlawful use of a weapon and aggravated discharge of a firearm.
  • Reports of drug activity on South Evergreen in Kankakee led to the traffic stop that finds Charlie Smith defending himself. Smith was a Passenger in a vehicle occupied by five men. Smith is charged with possession of cannabis with intent to deliver.
  • Condolenses to the family and friends of Tommy Gates. WLVI’s mid-day and Sunday evening host died over the weekend at a Chicago hospital. Tommy also is a former employee of WGFA.
