* The nation's reflecting today, remembered the 9-11 attacks from five years ago. Illinois officials say the state is better prepared and is always welcoming suggestions and moving forward to become even more prepared for terrorist attacks and natural disasters. An Indiana professor say the government leaders in the U-S and abroad deserve credit for the fact no major terrorist attacks have happened on U-S. soil since the 2001 attacks.

* Radio and TV stations this morning asked the public to share in a moment of silence at 7:46 and again at 8:03 am to remember the times from 2001 when the twin towers in New York were struck by the planes.

* Emergency response teams answered a call to a mock disaster in Watseka Saturday. Fire, ambulance, police, IMH and ESDA PERSONNEL joined employees of the Watseka Interstate LLC elevator in testing their response to an accident involving release of a toxic chemical. Sherry Garrelts of the IMH Emergency Team said the test went well; each respondent carried out the test in fine fashion.

* Illinois state police arrested four underage drinkers in Ashkum Friday night. Police made a traffic stop of a car without a headlight, prompting the investigation of a visit to a nearby home where the party was discovered.

* The Chicago Bears hanbded Brett Favre his first-ever shutout Sunday. The Bears recorded a 26-0 win over the Packers in the opener of the NFL season.
